How a skin deposit becomes site credit
A skin deposit involves separate steps: Steam identifies your account, a trade transfers an item, and the receiving service applies its own credit rules. Signing in does not transfer an item. Completing a trade does not establish that the credited amount has the same cash value as the skin.

Steam sign-in is separate from a trade
Steam OpenID lets a website identify your Steam account through Steam. A legitimate Steam authentication page may ask you to sign in; the third-party site should not collect your Steam password itself. Check the actual browser address, rather than trusting a copied logo or a window drawn inside a webpage. Steamworks explains website authentication here.
Before confirming a trade, compare the recipient and exact items with the offer you intended. A familiar avatar or display name is not enough. The Steam trade and API-key safety guide covers account checks in more detail.
CS2 protection is different from a trade hold
Valve currently identifies CS2 as the game using Trade Protection. Received items arrive immediately but cannot be transferred again during the seven-day protection period. Valve says CS2 items are not subject to the older trade-hold system. Do not apply the same timing to every Steam game. Source: Steam Trade Protected Items.
For trades where holds apply, Steam’s separate guidance explains authenticator-related holds of up to 15 days. Check the restriction displayed for the exact item and account. Source: Steam Trade and Market Holds.
Record the quote before transferring an item
- The exact item, including any condition or variant affecting its price.
- The offered site-credit amount and the name of that balance unit.
- Whether the balance can be withdrawn, exchanged or only used in games.
- Any crediting delay, eligibility requirement or reversal condition.
Steam Wallet prices, third-party cash prices and an operator’s credits are different measures. There is no universal deposit discount that applies to every service. Compare matching items and compatible units using the skin-value spread calculator; its inputs are your observations, not live quotes from operators.
If the item leaves but the credit does not appear
Check Steam’s trade status, then the operator’s deposit record. Retain the trade ID, timestamp, item and quoted credit and contact the service through its official support route. An accepted trade and an operator balance entry are separate records; avoid sending another item just to test whether crediting is working.
